Over 60 years in industry
Oxford welding machines have been used in all industries for over 60 years. Our machines are renowned for their exceptional reliability & long lifespan. Some original Oxford arc welders from the 1960’s are still in use today.
Much has changed since the 1960’s but you can be sure all our OXFORD welders & Plasma cutters are still designed & engineered to give you the very best in long term reliability & lifespan.
The welding & cutting performance of our Oxford models is also exceptional, our MIG & MMA models offer super smooth reliable welding time after time, our PLASMA machines provide class leading performance.
All Oxford machines are British made in York by Technical Arc Ltd. As the leading British manufacturer we have unbeatable experience in this field.
We supply these machines to selected welding distributors throughout the UK & export.
Our technology explained.
Until 2021 all OXFORD machines were made using 100% copper wound power transformers & simple rugged switchgear & control PCB’s.
Recent EU & UK energy efficiency regulations (Eco design legislation) means we can now only make smaller 230V single phase machines using a traditional transformer design.
All our 3 phase & larger 230V models are now based on our unique industrial inverter technology. This provides higher energy efficiency & better welding & cutting performance. In addition the size & weight reduces dramatically.
As you would expect rugged reliable design & build comes first & foremost! All our inverters are made using just 2 IGBT transistor power modules. We do not fit microprocessors or use over complex electronics. No software, no programming problems. Minimum components, simple electronic PCB’s with logical designs that any technician can service without an electronics degree.
In our York workshops we make our own PCB’s, sub assemblies, transformers, inductors, coils, power modules. Our steel cases are made & painted locally. We source as many parts as possible in the UK.
From a performance point our latest technology provides improvements impossible to achieve using a traditional transformer machine. Better welding characteristics, multi-process CC/CV output to weld with different processes & Plasma machines with exceptional performance.
